Re: Online Grades

Nikki,

I am biased, since I am one of the volunteer developers-- but regarding tools for posting the grades I would suggest looking at "OnlineGrades" at http://www.onlinegrades.org/ . The software is free and is fairly feature complete.

It does depend on your school using one of several not-free grade book software programs. These programs create exports for the class grades and are the path for how the grades get from the grade book software to the web site.

Some advantages to putting grades online:
* Greater visibility for coaches as to if they have any ineligible students on their team.
* Parents log into one site and see grades for all of their students.
* Students can check their grades online with their own login.
* Saves paper and postage
* updated as often as the teacher uploads new info

Disadvantages:
* More steps for teachers (hit export, log into web, hit upload).
* Maybe more questions from parents who now are looking at every little grade.
* ??

Let me know if I can answer any more questions,
