SketchUp as a teaching resource

With apologies in advance for the mild commercial nature of this post, I
thought it worth sharing a good resource for using SketchUp. I find that I
get excited about many of the great new tools out there such as SketchUp and
Scratch but then struggle to figure out how to 'fit them in' to the broader
curricula.

For a few years now, a mom at our school has been active in getting our
classes using SketchUp. SketchUp is of course FREE; it's also a great tool
for creating easy and fun 3D designs. She's also been showing us ways to use
SketchUp to help with lessons in math, art, history, and geography (SketchUp
integrates easily with Google Earth). Before SketchUp was purchased by
Google, Bonnie wrote several authorized manuals for how to use it. She now
has a series of SketchUp design project books for kids, for ages 8-14. You
can find our more, including free activity ideas at her website -
www.f1forkids.com.
