Re: What to do with former faculty email accounts?

You are always told not to burn your bridges when you leave a job. The =
employer should follow the same principle. Email should remain as long =
as the former employee wants to maintain it, assuming that the AUP is =
followed and the employee left in good standing. Do do otherwise is to =
nickle and dime and discourage collaboration. If you talk the talk you =
should walk the walk.

IMHO that's a mistake. There are all sorts of options for faculty who =
leave
your school so why multiple the number of accounts you have to support? =
Our
policy is to leave things as is until 9/30 giving faculty a chance to
transition to their new school or job. Upon request, we'll forward mail =
a
few months longer.
