2010 Global Education Conference

*This has been posted in multiple venues, so I apologize for the
cross-postings. However, I want to make sure people in the ISED community
are aware of this project!*

Dear Friends and Colleagues -

As some of you know, I've been organizing an online community for educators
interested in global education for the past three years. The Global
Education Collaborative <http://globaleducation.ning.com> now has over 3500
members who are connecting, sharing ideas, and working on collaborative
projects. It's been exciting to see this site grow, and we're now taking it
to a new level.

My friend and fellow edublogger, Steve Hargadon (founder of Classroom
2.0<http://classroom20.com>),
and I have joined forces to start a free online virtual conference for
anyone interested in global education. It will most likely take place
November 15-19 this year using the Elluminate web conferencing tool, and
we've just initiated a preliminary call for participation. If you are
remotely interested in attending, presenting, or supporting the conference
in any way, please let us know via this online form:
http://tinyurl.com/globaledcon. We need your help!

The conference themes will include Teachers, Students, Pedagogy, Policy and
Leadership, and Change. Global education means different things to different
audiences, so we're casting a wide net by including many different topics.
This conference will also be inclusive of colleges and universities. We are
particularly interested, however, in helping teachers who are new to
connecting to other classrooms and new to the concept of developing global
competency with students.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to your
possible involvement in this conference. I'd also appreciate it if you could
forward this email to any other interested individuals or groups!
