Re: free/cheap video hosting

I like Vimeo, although it has a 500mb upload limit per week per account. If
you compress the videos before you post them (they will get compressed by
Vimeo if you don't) then you can get more videos posted before hitting the
limit. All you need to create a Vimeo account is an email address. If you
have more than one you can upload to multiple accounts.

While you can implement basic security it's cumbersome. You'd have to get
everyone who wants to see the videos to log in and then grant them access.
There may be an easier way . . . I haven't worried about that as much since
Vimeo is not as widely known as Youtube and I'm dealing with high school
students. You can also elect to not have your videos appear in search
engines so that provides some security.

For a longer-term solution, I've had success sharing videos through a Moodle
installation on a server I pay for: bluehost.com, about $7 a month gives you
unlimited disk space. You can create accounts for the students so they can
log in from home and see their work and others as well if you want.
