Re: rationale for switching from PC to Mac when going 1:1

We are actually going Mac to PC. I have found that Lenovo has the most =
incredible support system in place. I can get a part literally =
overnight with a standard extended warranty. When sending in laptops =
for repair, it is usually 48 hours, and occasionally 72 hours to get =
them back. They have inexpensive accidental protection which has pretty =
much the same turn around time. In other words, when a kid comes in =
with a laptop driven over by a car and in pieces, I put the pieces in =
the box, put in a service request, send it in, and in 48-72 hours have a =
replacement laptop with no questions, no hassles, and no deductibles!

I was Mac for the first 20 years I worked in Ed Tech. I love Mac, and I =
still use it at home. We have Mac laptops at school for a few of my =
lower school classrooms that have requested it, as well as for my =
multimedia lab (desktops for video). However, for one to one, Lenovo is =
incredible quick to work with.

Subject: rationale for switching from PC to Mac when going 1:1

I'm needing to find the reasoning other schools used when switching from
PC to Mac when rolling out 1:1. We are in China and most of our peer
international schools have followed this path. Just wanting to know =
what
most influenced a school that moved in this direction.

Not trying to start any debate. Fully aware of cost factors, market
penetration of platforms, software compatibility [or availability] =
etc.but
would still like to know why a school ultimately decided on a PC to Mac
shift when rolling out 1:1.

Thanks for any feedback, private or public.

Bob
