Server/Service Redundancy

All,

One of database servers went down last week. We had to do a rebuild in order
to bring it back up. Good to know our backup server caught everything.

Unfortunately, this is reactionary but, I'm now researching solutions that
will enable us to bring a down server up immediately. I've looked at
clustering and virtual backup solutions.

Is there anyone out there that has implemented a redundant server solution?
If so, I would love to hear your reviews and thoughts on the product you've
selected.

Thanks in advance.
