We have been very happy with the system, most of the problems have been
user-error.
Teachers are required to post grades every two weeks at minimum, many
teachers post more frequently. The reports at not "live" so teachers
don't have to worry about having some students' work graded and not
others. =20
For most parents, seeing the assignments and grades is satisfactory, and
the students check frequently. There are a few parents that become
extremely focused on grades, to the extent of arguing with teachers over
points and weighting, but that is a minority.
We also use the calendars - teachers post tests and major assignments
(parents, students and administrators can see these) and we use that
function as a "test calendar" to keep from overloading tests on a given

Subject: Online grades available to parents at your school?
We are a Prek-12 school and are debating the value of posting grades
online for parents. I would like to hear from schools who have made the
transition to posting online grades. If you are making your grades
available to parents could you list the pros and cons and if overall it
has enhanced parent communication or if it has caused problems with
parents who may tend to micromanage (as many people have feared)?
I have read through past discussions and found a few comments from
schools who are posting grades online, but I would like to know how many
schools are posting grades and about their experiences with online
grading, both good and bad.
