School Costs vs Median Family Income

Interesting article in the Times today comparing the growth in the cost of
college to the growth in median family income between 1982 and 2007.
College costs went up 439% while median family income increased 147%. Many
people are paying for college by borrowing more.

Does anyone know if equivalent data are available for independent schools?
If the numbers are similar, and my guess would be they are, then this
would be one more indicator lending weight to Clayton Christensen's
predictions about the future of schools.

BTW, the discussion about "Disrupting Class" over on ISEN
(http://isenet.ning.com/) has some really thoughtful posts.
