facebook causes vs. online giving form online

Forgive the cross-post...

Has anyone experimented with alumni group donations on facebook using the causes app? If so, what's your experience? How is this better/different than using your online giving form on your school's site.

I want to use Causes because it may attract non-giving, younger alum and thus increase our overall percentage. But because we have heard that donations are smaller on facebook than otherwise and that you cannot track specific donors and their gifts, the
fund-raisers want to stick with our online giving form on the school's site. That form is clunky and several clicks away from facebook, both factors that will decrease giving.

Thoughts?
