Re: learning specialists

My general questions are:
. Who organizes your schedule? It is a middle school schedule, and the =
students identified go to the learning specialist four times a week =
rather than taking a foreign language.

. How do you meet with students? (1 on 1, in small groups, in larger
groups, in age/grade groups or mixed groups, etc) We have 4-7 kids in =
each grade 6th - 8th. They meet four times a week as a group with the =
learning specialist.

. Do you pull students out of classes or study halls to work with you,
or do you work with students within their classes? It is an actual =
class, four times a week. Part of the time is spent of learning skills =
(organization, note taking, etc), other work is directed from the =
classroom teachers - helping them completing classwork.
. How are students recommended for working with you? Teacher =
recommendation.
. What role do teachers play in furthering the work you do with =
students? The teachers let the learning specialist know what skills / =
lessons the students need to work on when they are with the specialist.

The class with the specialist is called Study Skills and is an actual =
graded class that is calculated as part of the gpa.
