Music and Video - the tools of choice for schools

Hello all,

We're in the final dash for the end of the school year down here in New Zealand and are planning
and researching new projects to take shape for Jan/February 2010.

Our Music and English (Media) faculty (Middle and Senior Schools) are hoping to update and improve
their current software and hardware in the coming months. They're proposals are taking shape - and
I'd like to offer a balanced view of the tools that schools and ed professionals use for:

Music - notation and sequencing software (as well as the hardware that is used)

Media - video editing (and possible podcasting) software (as well as the hardware that is used).

Any thoughts or recommendations that you could all suggest?

Thanks for your input....

Regards,

Don
