Subject: Re: Parents posting videos on You Tube or Facebook of School Activities

I think Brian raises some very good a very difficult questions. Our take
has been to go on record as not allowing parents to post school
photos/video online without permission. If we would become aware of a
violation we would inform the violator and "nicely" ask them to remove th=
e
"offending" photos/video. I don't think we could force them.

Last year we added this text to our school Acceptable Use Policy:

Protection of Community Privacy and Intellectual Property=20

Please note that these guidelines apply to all members of the Burgundy
community.

All community members must respect the honor, dignity, privacy and
intellectual property of others and of the school. For this reason they
may not publish on any public media (including, but not limited to, cell
phones, YouTube, Facebook, Flickr, Picassa, and blogs) identifiable names=
,
photos or video of other students or community members, personal
information about other students or community members, or any proprietary
school information, including photos or video of the school, without firs=
t
obtaining the written permission of all those involved. Anyone who wishe=
s
to publish photos or video taken at a school event should contact the
Advancement Office for information on how to do so using the school=EDs o=
wn
(protected) accounts.=20
