Re: Ipods

There are some apps of low educational value. iFart, and as much as I love it, the iSamuelJackson app are short on pedagogicalopportunities. They also do not require an Internetconnection. Nor does sharing photos and video's downloaded at home or a friends house; no matter how outrageous.

The network is less than half the battle, but if you want to make an attempt, and your filters allow, the machine name for an iphone (in my experience) always contains the characters -iphone. You can block all of those (which will make some teachers unhappy as well). Outside of jail breaking I don't believe that can be changed or circumvented. You could also white list allowed MAC addresses on your network and only allow approved devices but that is administratively intensive.

Parental controls will not allow parents to turn off wi-fi on an iPod so you have limited options in seeking parental assistance.
