Re: Salary again

Interesting point....

IT Directors are becoming more and more like CIO's; have to have our fingers in almost every pie as
technology is becoming so much more embedded to how we do and operate things.

The usual differences b/w a CEO (head) and CIO (IT Director) are, in general terms - 20-25%. How
important the IT role is...within a school for tech and pedagogical guidance and practice should be
measurable against KPI's. How many of our KPI's are based on other senior staff's KPI's and vice
versa? - IT is so often in the middle (or core)...therefore I would say, valuable - if you can help
those and yourself reach/hit your targets and maintain business as usual - the better and therefore
more reward.

Don't forget that remuneration is not just dollars after taxes. IT changes so fast that one should
look to soft benefits as well; phone/data package, internet at home (and for IT staff - who have to
manage hardware out of hours) as well as plenty of PD for courses/conferences just to maintain
'knowledge base' and scoping capabilities...
