We have experimented a lot with this since I took this position in the
middle of January 2007. We find that the students do well if they visit
primarily with the 5th grade, but they attend one middle school class. We
ask the parents what they think that their child would like to see in
order to choose the class. We also give the middle schooler a tour of
middle and upper school and have them meet the middle school principle
briefly. I hope this helps!
