We use it with our 8th graders. Though the kids have many options in terms=
of creating a multi-media project, many choose iMovie. =20
We take the class to Washington D.C. in May and their final exam project is=
to look for a self-identified trait that they have seen woven throughout t=
he history of our country. Then, they take pictures, videos, and create de=
scriptors that make for a nice visual movie (not too wordy...but clear). T=
hey've turned out nice over the past few years since we've shifted our focu=
s for the project.
We also have our kids create a 14th Colony. Many kids have created an info=
mercial (documentary) using iMovie. Again, we give them options based on w=
hat they are comfortable with, but some choose this option over moviemaker =
or powerpoint.

Subject: movie making in the classroom and document cameras
My school's professional day this year is dedicated entirely to technology,=
and I want to ensure that teachers are able to link what they learn on the=
professional day back to their classrooms. The workshop that I am teaching=
is iMovie, and I was hoping
to share exciting ways that teachers are using movie making in the classroo=
ms. If you could share ways that this tool is being utilized at your school=
, I'd love to share them with my school.=20
I was also wondering if anyone is using document cameras. We are looking to=
purchase some, and want to make sure the model works well in an educationa=
l setting. If you know of a great model, please let me know what it is and =
why you like it. If you know
of a terrible model, that would help too.=20
Thank you,
