Re: List servs for school communications

What mailing list software are you currently using? Albeit also old, I use Majordomo for the mailing lists that I currently manage and the way I get around spam is to set the posting rules to only allow subscribers and nobody else. If the spam is actually coming from a subscriber, you can then eliminate that address easily.

I'd still recommend Majordomo but if starting from scratch, I'd seriously take a look at a modern mailing list server program, Mailman.

Majordomo is free, includes source code (Perl) but I believe is not Open Source.

Mailman is free and Open Source written in Python.

There's a whole universe of mailing list software that costs $$$ but I've never found the need to venture in that direction.
