Student Leadership in Independent Schools

Hello,
I am writing from St. Margaret's Episcopal School in San Juan Capistrano, C=
alifornia. We are a Preschool through 12th grade day school, with an enrol=
lment of approximately 1,150 students.. Currently, we are taking a look at=
how we teach/foster/identify student leadership at all levels. It is our =
hope to come up with some basic leadership competencies (i.e. collaboration=
, integrity, communication) and then assess how our current program fosters=
these leadership competencies. From there, we would like to strengthen o=
ur leadership curriculum to intentionally address these competencies.
So my question is three fold:

1) Do you intentionally teach leadership at your school?

2) Do you have a defined set of leadership competencies or tenants tha=
t helps guide your school's teaching of leadership and that you aim to fost=
er in students?

3) Do you have a defined leadership development curriculum? I would l=
ike to hear from various divisions, Preschool, Lower, Middle and Upper.

Thank you so much for your feedback- I look forward to being a part of this=
list serve dialogue.
