Questions about Laptop/Tablet programs

Dear all,
As we enter our third year of having tablets in our Middle School we have
some questions about how other schools fund their tablet or laptop
programs. If you don't mind, could you help us out by providing the
answers to the following questions regarding laptop/tablet use and
financing:

1- What grade do the students begin to use tablets/laptops?

2- Are the students allowed to take the tablets/laptops home? to use them
throughout the day in various classes?

3-Do students keep the tablets/laptops at the end of x number of years?
Do the students then buy a new one? Can they buy refurbished ones?

4- Are the tablets/laptops recycled?

5-Are the tablets/laptops provided through a technology fee? If so, what
is the fee, who is required to pay the fee and what does the fee cover?
Are the tablets/laptops bought outright by the school? Bought outright
by the parents? What happens if students cannot afford to buy one?

6- Once purchased, what services does the school provide- imaging?
re-imaging? software- if so, what kind? repair? replacement? liability
insurance?

Any other information would be appreciated. As you can see, we are
particularly interested in how you finance your laptop or tablet program.
We are currently funding the program through grants; the school is paying
100% of the cost of the program and the computers are owned by the school.
We are interested in looking at other models. Since we are a K-8 school,
we are primarily interested in Middle School one-to-one programs.
