Extensive use of LDAP?

We are interested in speaking with schools that are making extensive use of
LDAP (or it's cousins open directory & active directory) to serve purposes
beyond user authentication to various servers. Specifically, we are
interested in using LDAP to serve as a central repository for directory
information of common demographic fields currently hosted in several
different systems, including FileMaker, Raiser's Edge, and Microsoft
Dynamics.

The last time we tilted with this windmill neither LDAP nor other software
systems were ready to play nicely with one another. We'd like to take
another look at this and would love to learn of schools that are having
success in this area.

Tks.
