Seeking Collaboration (two opportunities) ... and Summercore

1) We are seeking someone who is skilled with the insides of a Dell
OptiPlex SX280 who might be willing to SKYPE with our 7th graders for
10-15 minutes as they embark this Thursday on building computers from
scratch ... see http://www.cstorefront.org/build ... this could be YOU if
you have those skills and are generous with your time or a contact at Dell
if you would be willing to share the name and email with me ... I also
would be interested in connecting your 7th graders with ours as they tweet
over the next 3 weeks (and post pictures) during the build project which
was incredibly successful at my previous school (Chapin) and we are now
implementing at Storefront in Harlem.

2) We are seeking a teacher of grades 8 or 9 who might want to collaborate
with Robin Neal (rneal@bcdschool.org) from Beaver Country Day School in
Boston and me as we launch an inter-scholastic NING based on the themes
of transition. Robin's 9th graders in Boston and my 8th graders in Harlem
will be getting to know each other as they read the wonderful book about
independent school adolescents called "Initiation" by Susan E Fine (see
http://susanefine.com). The students in this project will get to SKYPE
with the author who is willing to answer questions on our NING. We would
like to find 1 or 2 additional schools around the country (or world) with
a teacher of grade 8 or 9 interested in being part of this project.

As always, best to contact me off the listserv. Thanks much ... Steve

p.s. Summercore this year will be in July once in NY and once in Florida
... dates are on http://www.summercore.com ... Summercore is a unique 5
day professional development Web 2.0 course in hardware, software and
humanware for teachers and administrators ... over 2600 people have
attended since 1985, mostly from independent schools
