Re: Printing Strategies

Brandon

We have evolved our printing plan into this structure:
There is a high volume BizHub Color Copier networked in each division.
Each classroom does have a B&W laser.
One of the Media Centers has a Color Laser.
Each administrator (except me) has one in their office.

We utilize this strategy:
Use the copiers for most of your printing needs.
The classroom printers are to be used sparingly.
The Media Center is for use by the science lab next door for color
printing, where the copier is generally not available to students in
that building or for backup when the BizHub is busy/down.
The administrators still use the BizHubs unless confidential (we could
use a security locking feature on BizHub - but as Tim responded that's
another story)
We also emphasize the use of digital documents rather than hard copies
on paper.

Successfully, we have cut down on our laser toner use to 25% of what
it was 5 years ago. The cost of the toner for the BizHubs are built in
to the maintenance agreement, but is a mere fraction of what the laser
toner is. We are working on paper usage and are managing smaller
percentage of reductions each year. We are a PK-12 school that is 1:1
laptop from G4-12.

Hope this helps.
