Learning through performing research

I have always felt that performing strength and conditioning research would=
be a wonderful mechanism for learning. In a recent article in the Journal=
of Strength and Conditioning Research they compared four hamstring stretch=
ing techniques to determine which is superior. A study like this is easy t=
o replicate and could involve a variety of critical skills (statistics, lit=
erature review, manuscript preparation, study design and discussions on thr=
eats to study validity). Does anyone have any experience in trying a techni=
que like this?
