Re: Connecting Nonschool issued laptops to your school's network

Hello,

Our school has an Aruba wireless concentrator that allows us to have a
secure internal wireless network and a Guest network. Students (and
guests) are allowed to connect any wireless device to our Guest network
with the understanding that they can only use HTTP/HTTPS to browse out to
the Internet and are constrained to a shared slice of our Internet
connection.
Since the wireless concentrator blocks most traffic from our internal
network we are not concerned with policing virus software or security
patches.

Secured wireless devices get much greater access to the network.

Our library does also have a set of 10 wireless laptops that are available
for student/class use here. We have a small cart in a storage area to
house them, though it would be much more efficient if we had shelving set
up for them.
