Re: Apple.com Traffice

All Macs have an "automatic update" feature, it's called Software Update in=
the Preference pane. It may be enabled on your Macs, and Apple is not know=
n for small, light updates. Another thing to consider is student-owned lapt=
ops using your Internet connection. Not sure if you allow such a thing, but=
those can also be autoupdating at school, and the students may not even kn=
ow. Out of the box config on all Macs I've used (Tiger and Leopard) is to a=
utodownload the updates in the background and prompt you to install them.

Subject: Apple.com Traffice

Hi Everyone,

I have noticed a significant slowdown on my network lately. I checked
my Cymphonix box and noticed that almost 50% of my traffic in the past
month is to Apple.com listed as Automatic Traffic (which is usually
updates or similar). We are 75% PC here, so I am trying to figure out
what is going on. Has anyone had a similar problem? Are there some
sort of auto updates happening on newer Macs that I need to go and turn
off? =20

Thanks,
