Integrated Technology Symposium

Dear Independent School Administrators.,

I want to make sure you are aware of this opportunity as space is still available. Two years ago we hosted a wildly successful one-day workshop designed specifically for school leaders and not for the already savvy technology professionals. Realizing the unique needs of school leaders, we are now offering a full 3-day event â€" designed for school principals, heads, assistant principals, division leaders, and other curriculum leaders â€" to help broaden the understanding of the power of a truly
integrated approach to technology implementation.

Please pass this on to anyone in your school who might benefit from the Symposium. We are trying to do our part to help positively influence leaders to look more carefully at the power of technology to support teaching and learning. It's been our experience that often the most listened to voices for change are those coming from OUTSIDE our schools.

All the best,

Howard

I’m writing to remind you about this summer’s [ http://www.urbanschool.org/cit ]Center for Innovative Teaching (CIT) workshops, sponsored by The Urban School of San Francisco. CIT is a summer professional development program founded to help middle school and high school teachers across the nation learn from Urban’s 40+ years of experience in course creation, curriculum development and collaborative teaching practices.

New this year is our [ http://www.urbanschool.org/techsymposium ]Integrated Technology Symposium designed for school leaders. We have recently hosted more than 100 schools from around the world interested in our highly integrated technology program, in particular our 6-year-old 1:1 laptop program. In fact, Urban was recently awarded [ http://edcommunity.apple.com/ali/story.php?itemID=14250 ]Apple Distinguished School status - the only independent high school school chosen in the country. This [
https://www.urbanschool.org/page.cfm?p=238 ]Symposium directly addresses the need for a more in-depth overview for lead administrators (Heads of Schools, Assistant Heads, Principals, Assistant Principals and other academic professionals) who are seeking ways to create broad, cross-disciplinary exposure to best practices in technology integration.

Sessions are designed for a generalist population of school leaders with examples of effective technology integration in all discipline areas. Sessions are led by expert teachers and administrators. In addition, given the broad national scope of the [ http://www.urbanschool.org/techsymposium ]Integrated Technology Symposium, attendees will benefit from the wide-range of shared experiences, as well as networking opportunities.

And finally, there is San Francisco! [ http://www.urbanschool.org/cit ]The Center for Innovative Teaching is centrally located in the historic Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, just a short jaunt to Golden Gate Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, downtown and all points in our beautiful city.

There are a broad range of other [ http://www.urbanschool.org/cit ]CIT workshops offered in multiple subjects, including science, foreign language, mathematics, literature, digital oral history, media literacy and service learning. Please feel free to forward this message to any of your middle or high school teacher colleagues.

Please contact me if you have any questions. I hope to see you or other members of your school later this August.
