Re: Photo Archiving Solutions

Researching Digital Asset Management will turn up much information. It's
a big industry. Having worked for a design firm, we ended up using
Extensis Portfolio and were reasonably happy with it. It is an entry level
enterprise product, but will scale to accommodate huge collections. You
could even begin with their desktop app, which is pretty cheap, and
migrate to their server solution down the road. See
<http://www.extensis.com/en/digital-asset-management/by-product.jsp>

Things to be aware of:
- Any DAM system will require establishing standards and keywords
- Training and adequate staffing is essential
- Plan for future storage expansion as the archive grows
- Find a local college or university with a Library Science program and
work with their staff and students to build a taxonomy that works for your
organization and assets.

Good luck.
