Re: ISED/Internet Safety Speaker

I have to agree with Gary. Bringing someone from the outside usually
ends up being a stock presentation that doesn't match your needs. Who
knows your community better than you're own faculty. We actually do a
presentation here at St. John's that involves myself, the counselors,
and our Technology Integration Coordinator (you can see an old version
of what we used to do on the NAIS website back from Denver if it is
still available). It's done with our parents and students in mind and
goes along with what we are teaching the kids in class. It is not meant
to scare but to educate. That is the biggest difference that our
parents have noted about what we have done versus what other schools in
the area have done. They feel more empowered to build an online
relationship with their kids and have a greater understanding of the
tools we are using in school.

I would seriously consider doing the presentation in house. It makes
all the difference in the world!
