Re: Website host

Good points to consider - and probably why we started with outsourcing. =
I'm just frustrated that it's been an issue twice now in the past three =
months.

Well... the beauty of this is that if you design your website in such
way that it is easily transferrable you can really move it if your
current provider collapses. (yes - even the crazy CMS solutions)

I actually moved the opposite way: from my local server to a hosting =
service.
My server used to crash like crazy and my linux guru was charging me
an arm and a leg to 'bring it back to life'... for until the power
went back down and left me in limbo again. At least now I have someone
to yell at when the website goes down...

Oh, and if you are not a geek, a hosting service offers you a very
nice interface to try all sorts of stuff:
moodle, drupal, joomla, forums etc, etc... too many to list here which
would take me absolute ages to install configure, update, upgrade,
up-whatever myself... Royal pain in the neck.

I am not sure who has the time to do all these things on their own.

As an educator I am not really interested in the innards of a computer
but in what I can get out of it for the kids to use and learn.

So I would really weigh all these when I would make a decision like =
this.
