Re: Web Site Management within Schools

Ademola,

As a finalsite.com customer we have:

=20 - Is it strictly owned, controlled, and managed by your
Communications
=20 department?

*Yes. Our site is managed, in total, by our Communications Department.
We do have a few things outsourced across campus, i.e., Athletics
updates, and the Classroom features are handled by the faculty, i.e.,
posting of resources, calendars, etc. but in general everything else
flows through the D.O.C.

=20 - Does Academic Administration have the opportunity to alter the sit=
e
=20 (with strict permissions)?

*No. Not at this time.

=20 - How much of a role does the internal Tech staff have with the site=
?

*Troubleshooting user accounts as we have S.S.O. with our active
directory as well as parent accounts managed through our school
database. Other than that myself and our D.O.C. have fairly regular
conversations about where the site is headed and changes or enhancements
we'd like to see put into place.

=20 - Do you employ a FT/PT webmaster?

*Our site is managed by our Director and Assistant Director of
Communications. In essence, our D.O.C. is the lead webmaster.

=20 - Who within the school attended training on how to utilize the CMS?=

*Director of Communications, Assistant Director of Communications, and
myself as the Chief Technology Officer. We then provided training to our
faculty and staff on its us.

Hope this helps. And if you have any follow-up questions please make
sure to drop a line.

All the best,

Subject: Web Site Management within Schools

All,

Curious to know what kind of internal structure other schools have in
place
to manage their websites... Especially, those schools that have
outsourced
(Finalsite, Whippe Hill...) the development and hosting of their web
presence.

Thanks in advance.
