Re: Build a Science Lab

Hi,

As Lucy already mentioned, data collection tools would be a great idea. Th=
ere are also many many sensors and measuring devices that measure all sorts=
of real world data. Much of this tech bleeds over from science in general=
. Depending on the curriculum, you could use some g-force sensors, temp se=
nsors, sound level sensors, digital scales, inclinometers, a myriad of wate=
r sensors, time lapse cameras, a myriad of weather sensors or even a weathe=
r station, and more.

A big area many classrooms need help with is visual. Often times you have =
an experiment taking place and everyone cannot see it. Cameras that shoot =
down on the experiment and high speed cameras are on my wish list as well.

Of paramount importance to any science classroom that harnesses technology =
well is to maintain focus. Often times you may have someone speaking, a Po=
werPoint running, and someone else holding up something or doing an experim=
ent. Suffice it to say, you will have students left behind if too much is =
done at the same time. Balancing tech in science can be a skill unto itsel=
f.

As always, on the top of my list for the high-tech classroom is training.

You have an opportunity to outfit a Lower School (Gr.3-5) Science Lab with

Besides an interactive whiteboard (w/response clickers), netbook cart,

employ to furnish the lab?
