Re: Latitude 2100 XP Vol License install

I am guessing laptop has SATA drive that is not supported by default by Win=
dows XP.

There are usually two options:

1. Disable SATA mode in BIOS, install XP and update drivers per manufacture=
r recommendations after OS is installed. Enable SATA mode in BIOS again.
2. Use F6 at the beginning of XP installation and when prompted provide flo=
ppy disk or USB memory stick with SATA drivers.

I recommend option 2 as less intrusive. I had to perform this procedure wit=
h HP and Lenovo tablets and laptops.

Subject: Latitude 2100 XP Vol License install

I have tried to install xp vol lic OS on the 2100 but the hard drive is not
found during the set up. I have the latest XP SP3 image from the microsoft
eopen website. A reinstall from the Dell XP reinstall disc works fine. Ther=
e
are extra files on the Dell reinstall disk which I assume contain some
drivers need for the install.

Has anyone had success/got any suggestions?

Thanks

John
