Re: Primary School Technologies

Hi Jayme,

If you don't mind I would love to see some examples from your K-2
grades. I am on the tech team at Overland SAS and we are in the early
stages of introducing like programs to our K classes.

Thanks so much!

Hi Ademola,
We do a lot of tech integration with our primary grades. As far as
"tools" the main software titles we use are:
Pixie 2 (an open ended drawing program from tech for learning),
Neighborhood Map Machine 2.0 and Graph Club 2.0 (both from Tom Snyder),
and Microworlds, Jr. (from LCSI). Kidspiration is a software title that
we don't currently use, but I have some teachers piloting it in their
classrooms. I used it extensively when I taught 2nd grade at a Title I
school.=20

Each of these titles are what I call "blank page" software. The starting
page is blank and the possibilities are endless. The titles also include
excellent project starters, integration ideas, and subject specific
activities that even "non techie" teachers can easily use and integrate
into their curriculum.

If you would like specific project examples for grades K-2, let me know.
I'm always happy to share!
~Jayme

All,
Our Primary School Head (Gr.K-2) would very much like to have her
teachers
incorporate more technology into what they're already doing in the
classroom. My depth of knowledge relating to tech tools for this
age-group
is mostly lacking. I'm more familiar with tools geared toward Grades 3
and
up.

I'd like to throw out there - what technology integration tools are you
currently using in your K-2 grades? What tools do your teachers find
benefit
the kids and the teacher?

One of the nifty tools I've run into is the Teachermate, offered by
Innovations
for Learning <http://www.innovationsforlearning.org>.

I appreciate all insight; and thanks in advance.
