Job Opening: Associate Director for Electronic Communications

Concord Academy, an independent, coeducational college preparatory school=
for
grades 9 through 12 located in Concord, Massachusetts, seeks a skilled an=
d
experienced communications professional to work in its dynamic and
team-oriented communications office beginning in the summer of 2010.=20
Chartered in 1922, the school currently enrolls 373 boarding and day stud=
ents
from eight countries and territories and eighteen states.=20

Reporting to the associate head for communications, enrollment, and plann=
ing,
the associate director for electronic communications will play an importa=
nt
role in the development and oversight of an electronics communications
program that meets the institutional needs of Concord Academy, highlights=
the
mission and life of the school, and informs and engages constituent audie=
nces
per the objectives of the school's Communications and Marketing Plan.

Principal responsibilities for this position include:

=B7 Collaboration with school constituents and stakeholders (e.g.
administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumnae/i, and parents) to deve=
lop
and implement an electronic communications program, including a social me=
dia
plan, that maximizes constituent engagement with the school and reflects =
the
school's mission and values

=B7 Management and editorial oversight of the school's website
(concordacademy.org) and Web content managers, including soliciting,
proofing, and publishing key Web content (e.g. news, events, testimonials=
,
photo and media galleries, etc.) that is timely, accurate, and relevant a=
nd
that adheres to the school's editorial and visual identity standards

=B7 Management of all Web-related technical support needs in partnership =
with
the school's Web partner, Silverpoint; coordination of all Web-related da=
ta
support needs in partnership with the school's IT Services department

=B7 Regular monitoring and reporting of constituent needs, preferences, a=
nd
uses of the school's electronic communications tools, the school website,=
and
the school's social media pages

=B7 Development and management of an SEO plan, in partnership with the sc=
hool's
Web partner, Silverpoint

Other responsibilities for this position include:

=B7 Taking photographs at selected school events

=B7 Oversight and management of the school's digital photography archive

=B7 Performance of other school duties and functions, as assigned

Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, and three =
to
five years of relevant experience in electronic communications, Web desig=
n
and/or development, social media, and/or marketing. The successful candi=
date
will have a demonstrated proficiency in Web content management systems (C=
MS),
including some experience in HTML, CSS, and Flash, as well as proficiency=
in
Dreamweaver and Photoshop; Web metrics tools including Google Analytics a=
nd
Urchin; social media sites and tools including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedI=
n,
YouTube, Vimeo, Shutterfly, Flickr, and SmugMug; and other software inclu=
ding
Excel and Microsoft Word. The successful candidate will have a demonstra=
ted
ability to think strategically and creatively about the role of electroni=
c
communications, websites, and social media in achieving institutional goa=
ls;
a demonstrated ability to lead and strategize, to work collaboratively, a=
nd
to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects; excellent
interpersonal skills and institutional judgment; strong writing and edito=
rial
skills; and a commitment to education.
