Subject: Library vs. Technology Staff Roles
At the VAIS Technology Conference at Collegiate School in Richmond on March
27, my colleague Ann van Deusen (School Librarian) and I will be leading a
workshop on the topic "Technology and Library in the 21st Century --
Defining Roles."
With so much convergence of responsibilities between library and technology
staff we suspect that many schools are struggling to redefine these roles.
We have come up with a list of questions around the roles of library staff
vs. technology staff that we hope to explore in that workshop and we would
love to get the input of school both inside and outside of VA on this topic.
I have copied below our list of questions (with "high priority" questions
marked with an asterix) and would welcome anyone's input. If you are at all
tempted to reply (thank you!) don't feel you need to reply to all the
questions. -Joe Peacock

another? No, across campus but we can communicate easily

*Who purchases digital A-V equipment (including projectors and interactive

Who trains students/teachers in the use of those devices? Technology trains

*Who loans it out? Technology office because I have to maintain the

With all that being said, I would like to see my Librarians more tech savvy.
