If you want to use the free version, there is automatic advertising that
appears in the right hand column of every page.
However, after I posted my comment yesterday, I viewed a colleague's private
ning that he's using with middle school students and it may change my mind.
This colleague has upgraded to a paid for version which takes away the
advertising. He's also used php to really customize his Ning space. For
instance, his ning is being used for an after school program when the
students earn points for certain digital work produced and posted to the
ning. He has a page in his ning that calculates these points for the kids. I
was really impressed this space in general... Unfortunately, it's a private
one, so I can't show it off to you!
