Re: changing volume without exiting all programs
I use the windows key- it just gets you back to the desktop where you can
adjust volume, but then hit it again and you are back in the program

Change in co-managers
This is just a note to let you know I am moving on from my duties as
an ISED-L co-manager. The largest building project in my school's
history will occupy much of my time for the foreseeable future. Tom
Phelan from the Peddie School has graciously agreed to take my place,
so please join me in welcoming him on board. Thank you, Tom.
Thanks to all of you for your patient cooperation around listserv and
subscription management issues and for your active participation in
ISED-L.
Special thanks go to Ed Siegfried, Marti Weston, and David Withrow,
the current and former co-managers these past six (I think) years. I
have learned a great deal from all three. I hope David won't mind if
I gve an extra shout out to Ed and Marti. Their enduring commitment to
ISED-L has been an extraordinary labor of love for more years than I
can recall. Kudos to them for this artful clinic in making and keeping
professional commitments with class, style, and a goodly measure of
elbow grease.
See you online.

Re: Curriculum Mapping Software
the back-end - one can focus more on presentation formats, or on
collaboration and work-flow.
Are you more interested in "how nice the software makes the output look"
or "how collaborative is the software"?
If your goal is to have teachers within and across disciplines and grade
levels draft mapping descriptions and relationships which administrators
could then finalize, with any user able to print out charts based on
discipline, grade level, team, etc, we would be able to customize an
open-source content management system called Drupal
(http://gamefacewebdesign.com/drupal) to do that.

Hi,

Re: Blogger for students
into the blogging, but I already am a huge fan of MUWP. The only catch is
that you need to have someone on site who enjoys geeking out and delving
into open source software to get it set up just the way you want it. We
have just such a geek and it's been great--he even hung out in the classroom
with me the whole day that the students were setting up their blogs.
There's a pretty good sized network of users for support online and in
Twitter.
One reason I like MUWP so much is that it is an authentic tool (there are
literally millions of Word Press users out there), the students can
individualize all they want, and yet you can keep an eye on them.
For example, when students found out that they were the admin of their own
blogs with the rights to approve or reject a comment they loved it. Yet I
still have the ability to monitor things so that they don't devolve into any
behaviors that can happen so easily with young adolescents. (We're using
this with 6th graders right now).
Our old blogging tool felt convoluted and unnatural, if that makes sense.
This one doesn't just feel/look like "real" blogging, it is real blogging!
In case you haven't seen it--here's a link to Seth Godin's very short video
on Why Blogging is Good For
You<http://isenet.ning.com/video/why-blogging-is-good-for-you>

An Ipod touch or iphone is a nice device to use. Many kids have them. You
can do some interesting things with BlogtalkRadio.com with imagination and

Re: changing volume without exiting all programs
sound. You might look up the model and brand you are using to find out
how to adjust sound. Then if it is not clearly marked on the keyboards,
just get colored dots and put them on the keys they need to press to
adjust the sound.
OR...you might want to look at getting a hardware device that fits into
the sound out port that the headphones then plug into that has sound
adjustment on it.
Here is one that is under $7 and it even allows for two sets of
headphones to be connected to one computer if you ever needed that:

I mistakenly bought headphones for my lab without volume control. And to
adjust volume for some of the games for younger children requires that I
close the program to get to the volume control.

Does anyone know of a good, easy, and cheap way to use the keyboard to
adjust volume?

We developed this class to feed into AP Computer Science so it

can include Robotics - also in java.
However, to keep kids engaged in this required class we also include

students engaged.

compatibility. Once there click on 3RVX_2.5.msi. cute little program
and completely customizable. Not sure if it works with vista though

Re: digital recording device
There is a teacher at our school who would like to podcast social studies l=
ectures. What is the best way to record the lecture while he is giving it t=
o the class. He does not want to sit and record the lecture at his desk, bu=
t walk around and interact with the class while speaking.
Thanks, in advance, for any advice you lend.
