Re: plagiarism software and/or sites

We just started using turnitin.com this year and so far it is going really
well. We create "draft" assignments so the students can check themselves and
fix any mistakes before they turn in a final draft. It is working as a
learning tool and thus far we have not had any plagiarism related
disciplinary events since we started the software. We point out to students
that many colleges use the software, but don't allow students to see
results. Giving students the opportunity to check their own work teaches
them about plagiarism and gives them control over what they turn in.

Hope this helps.
