their turned-off phones out of their reach and where the teacher can see
them during class.

Subject: middle school cell phone policies, guidelines, and consequences
We are looking for some examples of rules, regulations, guidelines for
student cell phones in school Our expectations is that the students may
carry them around as a way to avoid theft, but they should be turned
off. Parents want their students to have them for purpose of afterschool
communication with home, etc. Plus, a number of these same students use
their phones as an mp3 source for music after school.
We are experiencing an issue with texting during classes ( in their
pockets without looking! What a skill!) and that is only what we are
aware of.
Currently, our policy for cell phones that we even see during the school
day is to take them from the student. A call is given to the parent who
needs to come in a pick the phone up in order to return it to the
student.
We would be interested to learn about your policies, guidelines, and
consequences. Any tips you could share would be most appreciated.
