Re: middle school cell phone policies, guidelines, and consequences

Our students are expected to turn off their phones and store them in their
lockers. We provide ample opportunity for students to use the Middle Schoo=
l
office phone and take messages from parents if they need to reach their
child during the school day. After the day has ended, students are allowed
to use cell phones. We have begun to talk about allowing students to use
cell phones as student response systems through sites like "poll everywhere=
"
but are far from consensus.

We do occasionally have parents tell us that they spoke to their child
during the school day and we come to find that they had a conversation on
the child's cell phone. Oops!
