Re: middle school cell phone policies, guidelines, and consequences

We ask students not to use their phones or iPod/mp3 players during school
hours. If any kids are discovered using them, the device is taken for the
day. Our kids are really good about this expectation in part, I feel,
because we explain to them that when they are at school, we want them
actively engaging one another. That means they=B9re not texting someone when
they could be talking to them, and they=B9re not =B3tuning other people out=B2
with music. Seems to work pretty well for us. The only challenges we seem
to have is when a student=B9s PARENT texts them during school :-)

Best,

Phil
