Re: OH Projector recommendations

Hi Norman,
Fan noise has not been an issue for us. When it is on, it is barely
noticeable. On an older Mitsubishi OH projector (4+ years) though, I do
notice the fan noise on that one.

With my vendor (CDWG), I was able to test drive a projector for 30 days
before returning the ones I don't like. Talk to your vendor about test
driving a projector.

On the NEC, there is a wide-angle (less bright) vs. standard (more bright)
projector. I purchased the wide angle projectors thinking it would be the
wave of the future. After having them for a few months and watching them in
action, I prefer the standard 4:3 projectors with a brighter image.

For this summer, I will be looking to purchase a bunch of the short throw
NEC NP610S 2600 lumen projectors for my classrooms.

Side note:
We purchased one of the ultra short throw projectors by Smart Tech for our
Smart Board, and we found that the money we spent on it was not worth it
($2600+). It's kind of ugly how it sticks out, and it is very expensive to
fix/replace once it goes bad. With the OH projector, we can easily replace
it for <$900 if it goes bad and it looks more suited to the classroom.
