Thanks so much for your thoughtful responses.
There is some very interesting stuff out there -thanks for the leads- but
nothing comes close to what I'm envisioning. I want an interface that's
exciting, dynamic, fluid, easy to manipulate and very graphics intensive. I
want to really exercise those graphics processors and give kids the rich
visual experience they get in something like Halo.
My guess is that we are few years away from anything like this. That's OK,
it took almost 10 years from when the PARC researchers had a working GUI
interface to when the Mac was released in 1984. Good things take time.
In the meantime I'm going to work on some models using SketchUp to help
develop a better vision of possible interface approaches.
