This is an issue that has been on my "someday" list for a while and now it
looks like I can skip the research phase and skip right to implementation.
Chris's solution is exactly the type of solution I've been looking for. I
wasn't aware that the database providers supported authentication by
referrer link and didn't think to ask. For most, I bet this is the best
solution. It should be reasonably if not very simple to set up given the
existence of any password protected portal, it eliminates most of the issue=
s
with the other types of solutions such as setting up proxies, etc., etc.
