Seminar on Multicultural Literature

Attention K-8 teachers and media specialists in the greater DC
metropolitan area:

How can teachers effectively teach multicultural literature while
addressing all the other reading/language arts standards that need to be
taught? Is this literature appropriate for elementary and middle school
students to read? These questions are at the center of the debate about
multicultural literature's role within the K-8 reading program, and are
the focus of "Keepin' It Real: Multicultural Literature for Young
Readers," a seminar with Professor Jennifer Turner on November 4 and 18,
2009 at the University of Maryland in College Park.
