I hate to bother you, but I could use your guidance on a project I was
handed late last week which has a turnaround time of only 1 week at this
point in time.
We are in the midst of renovating our High School. The architects have a
very progressive and futuristic vision that they are designing. The lead
designer is a disciple of "The Third Teacher" and this space is being
planned as a 21st Century Learning space, with learning studios, flexible
and adaptable furniture, and media rich presentation, using ENO boards and
Steelcase Media::scapes throughout the building. Technology is expected and
assumed to be throughout the building.
At this point in time, we are not a 1:1 school. My project is to develop a
1:1 proposal(s) which is to include:
- Concise explanation of proposal
- Determination of ownership of equipment (school-owned versus individual
owned) and cost implications
- Supplemental cost implications (servers, backbone, bandwidth, etc.) to
support
- Staffing implications
- Timeline for implementation
- Detail of Professional Development for Faculty
- List of Policies that will need to be created to support a 1:1 program
- Anything else that I am missing
This proposal will be presented to our new Assistant Head of School/Academic
Dean, Upper School Head, and Business Manager. It will then be floated to
the Head of School, the Board of Trustees, Upper School faculty then to
parents and students.
Our challenges for this project is that each proposal has to be:
- Saleable to the Upper School faculty
- Aligned with the design of the new High School space
- Implementable
I know that this project is backwards, and that a proper investigation would
include surveying of students, faculty, parents, etc.
I am asking you if you have any material or information which will be
helpful in order to help me meet this goal, I truly would appreciate it.
