Re: IT Personnel Costs

Size of the organization (number of students, faculty, administrators, =
and
staff combined).=20
Students - 370 PK-8
Faculty - about 50 (including teachers and aids)
Admin - about 10
Staff - about 10

Number of individuals (or full time equivalents) involved in providing
System Administration, Network Administration, and Help Desk functions.
1-Full Time PC Tech / Help Desk
1-Full Time Director Tech (about 50% time is network / sys admin and 50% =
time is ed tech)
1-Half Time Ed Tech (about 20% is related to maintaining Macs)
1-Full Time Database Administrator (no system admin, but without her, a =
lot of my time would be doing her job)

Estimate of the combined personnel funding requirement associated with
staffing System Administration, Network Administration, and Help Desk
functions.

Approximate funding for 1 full time tech, 50% Dir Tech (since other 50% =
is ed tech) and 20% ed tech (since other 30% is ed tech). I am not =
including db director. I am also including only salary estimate not =
benefits, social security, etc. - $130,000

Estimate of the annual training budget to support System Administration,
Network Administration, and Help Desk functions.
All training comes out of the general PD budget. We have used about =
$20,000 the past two years, with about 90% of that being tech rather =
than ed tech.

You didn't ask for technology on the network which I think makes a HUGE =
difference on personnel needed. If you primarily have desktops in a lab =
setting, you will have many less tech support needs than a school-wide =
laptop program. We have about 300 laptops and about 75 desktops in our =
school. We are dual platform with about 70% PC and 30% Mac. We also =
have about 40 printers in our school to manage too.

Another factor is do you have a database person on staff. Often this =
role falls to the tech team if you do not have a person on staff that =
handles all the digital information.
