open-source media server suggestions, esp. with file size control

Am looking for recommendations on open source media servers that others
are using to host both still images and audio and video. What media
server would you suggest for a school of 900 students?

We are looking for an open-source solution that will host .flv, .mov, .wmv
as well as photos. We've looked at zenPhoto and a couple others, but want
to be able to control max number of images in an album [for photos], max
file size of any one file by type [ie. max .jpg 2 Mb, max. .flv 5 Mb].
LDAP or AD integration would be wonderful, or create users by .csv

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Bob
