Alternate Reality Game Session Archived

As many of you know, last year I created an Alternate Reality Game for a wo=
rkshop in the Classroom of the Future at the NAIS Annual Conference. Since =
then I have had several opportunities to share this with others in 1-hour f=
ace-to-face workshops. However, last weekend I was able to share it with a =
larger group via the Internet through LiveClassroom2.0. As a result of doin=
g this online, the session was recorded.

What is an Alternate Reality Game? (you ask). An alternate reality game or =
ARG blends fact and fiction to create a new reality. It is a narrative or s=
tory based game where the participants (or in the case of an ARG as a learn=
ing environment- Learners) interact each other and characters from the stor=
y within this alternate world. They are presented with dilemmas that will r=
equire action on their part to find solutions and as a result, keys to move=
forward in the game or course.

Early example of an ARG came from the movie AI. Simply Google "sentient mac=
hine therapist" and see what you find. Follow the clues and you will find y=
ourself at the front door of one of the first online ARG's. Now you find te=
en and children books using this technique as well (39 clues and the Kathy =
series- links below).

urday's session along with other information and many resources posted at: =
